Yorkshire based lighting specialist TLW, is marking its 30th anniversary this year with a renewed focus on product development, brand growth and expanding partnerships across the KBB, modular and electrical trade sectors.
Originally founded in the mid-1990s by the Hughes family, the company has evolved from a small local lighting supplier into a recognised manufacturer supplying OEM partners and trade customers across the UK and beyond.
Today, TLW’s strategy centres on the continued development of its core brands VEW and MARK, both of which are seeing strong growth as the company expands its product portfolio and strengthens relationships with retail and wholesale partners.
Jason Hughes, Sales & Marketing Director of TLW, said: “Over the past 30 years we’ve grown from supplying replacement lamps locally to developing our own brands and manufacturing lighting solutions for some of the largest OEM manufacturers in the industry.
“As we celebrate this milestone, our focus is very much on the future, expanding our VEW and MARK brands, continuing to develop new product ranges and strengthening the partnerships we have with customers across the sectors.”
The evolution of lighting technology has played a key role in TLW’s development, particularly the shift from traditional halogen and fluorescent lighting to LED and smart technology solutions.
“The development of LED technology was a game-changing for the industry,” added Jason. “It created huge opportunities to develop more efficient, flexible and longer-lasting lighting solutions, which is something we continue to invest heavily in.”
Alongside product development, TLW has built its reputation on a partnership-led approach, working closely with manufacturers, retailers and distributors to deliver tailored lighting solutions.
This includes bespoke product development, pre-manufactured bespoke profile lighting produced at the company’s Doncaster facility, custom packaging, own-brand solutions and just-in-time deliveries designed to support modern manufacturing and retail requirements.
Looking ahead, TLW sees significant opportunity as lighting technology continues to evolve and demand for integrated lighting solutions grows across the sectors, also opening up exciting opportunities to look at expanding the TLW offerings beyond lighting.
One of the founders Roy Hughes believes the company’s strong foundations and commitment to innovation will continue to shape its future. “Seeing TLW grow from a small start-up into an established lighting brand within the industry has been incredibly rewarding,” he said.
“The lighting sector continues to innovate, and that brings exciting opportunities for the business as we look to build on what has been achieved over the past three decades.”
