Why choose smart home appliances?
Always rushing, a thousand thoughts in your head and little time for housework?
Intelligent, efficient, and connected directly to your phone: smart home appliances are innovative devices that can simplify housework in several ways and make your appliances increasingly autonomous, leaving you with more free time for the things you love, including entertaining the kids this summer.
Connectivity even allows you to carry out many operations remotely. This not only optimises your time and energy, both physical and mental, but also saves money while reducing your environmental impact.
Kitchen appliances: arguably the most essential item
A dishwasher is one of the most useful appliances in any kitchen, arguably the most as we all hate washing up, so make the most of it! But which features should not be undervalued when it comes to buying a new one?
Contrary to what many people think, it’s not more efficient to wash the dishes by hand. The important thing is to choose an efficient machine both in terms of energy class and performance.
- LG’s QuadWash™ Dishwasher washes dishes from every angle and offers one of the quickest wash cycles on the market. With a wider distribution using four arms, and sweeping motion on two of these, your plates and glasses will be sparkling clean in just 39 minutes.
- TrueSteam™ technology not only ensures your glasses and dishes are cleaned with up to 99.99% bacteria removal, but you will have fewer water spots, so you won’t need to wipe it all again at the end of the cycle.
- What’s more with a maximum capacity and EasyRack™ Plus, you can load it up and wash them all in a single cycle. This allows you to reduce waste by up to 40%*, saving large amounts of time, electricity and water in one go.
- The Inverter DirectDrive™ motor reduces the number of moving parts inside your appliance and thus reduces the noise generated, so it’s quiet, efficient and reliant. Therefore, you can pop it on during down-time or when the kids are taking an afternoon nap.
- If your dishwasher has a half load setting, this will reduce water and energy usage.
- Certain LG models also have Turbo setting that will speed up cycle but may use slightly more energy, so consider how much time you can spare and choose the cycle which works best for you and your load.
So which household appliances are most useful when it comes to your laundry?
Is it best to choose a washer-dryer or a washing machine and separate dryer?
Of course, it depends to a large extent on your needs, especially if you have limited space and little time to hang up your wash. Today, LG’s advanced washer-dryer like the FWV917WTSE offers a host of great features that can help save time:
- With a smart washer-dryer you can have clean, dry clothes in just a few steps, thanks to fast programmes and innovative functions like TurboWash™ and Delay End, which allows you to finish the wash cycle at the time you choose, so you can be out and about during this time.
- LG’s washer-dryers minimise waste and optimise household efficiency. Thanks to the AI Direct Drive™ technology, weight sensors detect the size of the load and automatically adjust the amount of water and electricity used, providing 18% more fabric protection to look after your clothes for longer and reducing consumption by up to 70%.
- Energy-saving tumble dryer balls are a great way to save money when tumble drying. Placing a couple of balls in with your load can reduce drying time and your energy bills. They work by separating items to help warm air circulate so they dry faster.
- If you know you’re going to be using your tumble dryer, choose a faster spin on your washing machine first. This will help to remove excess water so your tumble dryer can dry your clothes faster. Just be sure the spin speed is suited to the type of clothes you’re washing.
- Fill your dryer about half full to make the most of a cycle whilst giving your laundry space to move around freely. A tumble dryer that’s overfilled will take longer to dry clothes, using more energy and an emptier dryer with fewer items will be less energy efficient.
- If your tumble dryer has an auto dry or sensor dry function, use this setting as much as you can to save both time and energy. A timed cycle could leave your machine running even after your items are dry, but the auto dry setting will only dry your clothes for the time that they need.
- LG Smart Pairing sets compatible LG Tumble Dryers to the recommended program from the Washing Machine cycle automatically to save you time and having to decide yourself.
However, there are options if you’re just using the one appliance too, such as the F6V909WTSA:
- If you’re not using a dryer, slow down the spin speed of your washing machine to at least 800rpm to reduce creases and help you cut down on ironing time. Once the cycle has finished, shake the clothes out.
- Use the right setting on your washing machine. As tempting as it is to pop your wash on a 40C cotton wash, you may actually be doing more damage than good. Machines are advanced nowadays so you can be very specific about what you’re washing. A quick wash is perfect for lightly soiled items and gets the laundry done faster. For example, Speed 14 cycle is great for a few items, so your evening outfit can be clean in just 14 minutes.
- Machines with an auto dosing feature also saves you time, as once you have filled it up with detergent, it will dose up to 35 loads automatically.
- With LG’s 6 Motion technology rather than taking time to manually handwash items, let your washing machine do it. By using gentle motions to replicate traditional hand washing, your clothes will get the same care you’d give them yourself and this can be in half the time.
- LG’s WiFi-enabled smart washing machines can be accessed and controlled by voice recognition or from the LG ThinQ™ app on your smartphone, which connects with your smart washer wherever you are. Remote-start your appliance with just the tap of a button or using voice assistant control, receive smart notification when a laundry load is complete, perform troubleshooting Smart Diagnosis, and download bespoke pre-set cycles – all via the ThinQ™ app. LG ThinQ means you can tell your machine exactly what you need, when you need it.
In conclusion, each of these smart home appliances are essential to make housework easier and enhance domestic and family life without sacrificing efficiency and performance. But don’t forget that to retain performance over time, you need to look after and regularly clean all your appliances.
