The Big Debate – one of the most-anticipated highlights of the KBSA’s KBB Industry Conference – is back. And for 2025, it promises to
be more insightful, more interactive and more relevant than ever.
This year’s session will be facilitated by acclaimed broadcast journalist Emma Crosby (right) and features a powerhouse panel of four of the
industry’s brightest minds. With decades of combined experience, this dynamic group reflects
the energy, innovation and resilience of modern KBB retail.

the 2025 The Big Debate.
Meet the panel
- Liam Butler, Design Director, Butler Interiors: A rising star in kitchen design, Liam joined his family’s business full-time in 2017. Known for pushing creative boundaries, he’s had over a dozen designs shortlisted for major industry awards. Now a Director, Liam leads with ambition,

Now at the helm of Et Lorem – the brand he founded in 2020 – he’s reshaping the luxury kitchen buying experience with studios in Reading and
Beaconsfield. - Lynne McBride, Design Director, Tolle Kitchens: Lynne transitioned from education into the family kitchen business in 2013, bringing strong leadership and a talent for communication. Her collaborative approach has helped Tolle Kitchens thrive as it celebrates 18 years in 2025
Discussing the issues that matter
With an expanded session time of 1 hour and 45 minutes, this year’s debate dives deeper into the real-world issues that matter most to independent retailers. Expect dynamic, honest discussion around:
- The value of charging for design.
- Strategies for retaining top talent.
- Ongoing frustrations with supplier display terms.
- Evolving consumer finance and protection.
And it’s not just a panel talk, it’s a fully interactive experience. Using audience interaction platform Slido on the day, attendees can scan a QR code to submit questions in real time and participate in live polls that shape the conversation.
Essential debate, not to be missed
“This isn’t about talking at people, it’s about talking with them,” says Richard Hibbert,
KBSA Chair (right). “The KBSA conference is more than just an industry gathering, it’s a
space for independent retailers to come together, share ideas and tackle the real challenges we all face.”
With discussion points submitted directly by the panellists – such as whether finance
options boost sales without eroding margin, or if charging for design should become
standard practice – attendees can expect fresh insights, practical advice and a clearer
view of the road ahead.
As Richard adds, “If you’re serious about growing, adapting and staying ahead in this market, this is
the one event you can’t afford to miss.”
