For an on-trend finish in the bathroom, matt black is a force to be reckoned with. Although it might have been around a year or two, it remains an ultra-contemporary finish that is hard to beat. According to Roca, it is still firmly at the top of bathroom buyers’ wish lists. In fact, due to increasing demand, Roca has recently extended several of its ranges to include Matt Black finishes. Read on to find out more.

Sophisticated showering
Not so long ago, chrome was the only choice for showers, but that is no longer the case. Take, for instance, Roca’s T-500 thermostatic shower mixer (pictured on the left), newly available in Matt Black and can be installed with a complementary hand shower and riser rail for a sleek look. In addition. the Matt Black Victoria thermostatic shower column (above right) offers an overhead rainfall shower and hand shower all in one. Both look great in a bright white enclosure, as shown, but the beauty of black is that it goes with anything. So, you can team a black shower with whatever colour tile you please.

Cool ceramics
Since the backlash against the avocado suite, bathroom ceramics have been universally white in the UK. Now, black is slowly luring people away from white, albeit in a matt finish rather than an old-fashioned shiny one. For an iconic example, look no further than Roca’s Ohtake basin (above). Designed by the late famed architect Ruy Ohtake, the collection has been newly extended in his honour with this Matt Black finish. The colour perfectly accentuates the ultra-thin walls (the basin is made from Roca’s Fineceramic®, which is super strong despite its delicate looks) and sculptural shape.

Beautiful brassware
Sometimes the simplest things are the most pleasing and this definitely applies to a matt finish on brassware. Smooth and highly tactile, it also has the advantage of not showing every fingerprint as shinier surfaces tend to. This wall-mounted basin mixer from Roca’s Mediterranean-inspired Ona range (above right) is a study in pure simplicity, with slender spout and handle creating an elegant silhouette against a sandy textured wall. For a deck-mounted option, the slim profile of Cala in Matt Black (above left) pairs well with an understated round basin.

Fabulous furniture
Roca is stepping up the style ante in furniture with its latest Matt Black finishes. Just like with brassware, a matt finish on furniture is a bonus when it comes to keeping it smudge-free. But offering furniture in a black colourway is also a no-brainer when customers are looking to add darker accents, rather than a completely monochrome scheme. A great case in point is Roca’s Aleyda furniture (above), which includes a choice of wall-hung and floorstanding vanities and column units all in an ultra-contemporary Matt Black finish.
