Pland’s Debut On Radio 4’s Today Programme

UK manufacturer, Pland Stainless, made their debut on the Radio 4 Today programme this week, when Nick Robinson visited their Leeds manufacturing site with the producer of the Today Programme.

The Radio 4 team were visiting Leeds on the final day that Britain is part of the European Union. Leeds was chosen as it was a marginal northern seat in the 2016 referendum. They visited Pland Stainless as a UK manufacturer, largely supplying UK customers, to ask the views of MD Steve Duree on the future for his business following independence.

As a UK manufacturer supplying the NHS and other commercial organisations with stainless steel washware solutions, like sinks and urinals, we are optimistic for the future and feel a sense of relief that we’ve eventually arrived at a decision.” Said Steve. “It’s time for everyone to consider the source of the products they buy and where possible to buy local. Architects that specify products should be aware of where products are made and aim to reduce their carbon footprint.”

Pland is one of the only remaining UK manufacturers of stainless steel products, like sinks, surgeon scrub up troughs and urinals designed for the healthcare, education, catering and secure accommodation market places.

The Today programme, featuring extracts from the interview with Pland, will be aired live from Leeds Kirkgate Market between 7-9am on Saturday 1st February, 2020.
