KEUCO together with Bathroom & Kitchen Eleven demonstrate how a specific bathroom cabinet can both elevate the look and enhance practical elements of the bathroom.
In recent years the bathroom cabinet has become one of the most consequential products to be specified in the room. Previously treated as an afterthought, something to be bolted above the basin, it now has a place in bathroom hierarchy and often performs multiple roles. It has to provide efficient storage, often within a space where this is in short supply, it must enhance the lighting mood for everything from a 7am routine to an evening soak, and it has to last, to survive years of steam, hairspray and splashes without a hint of wear and tear.

KEUCO offers an extensive cabinet collection including the SOMARIS and ROYAL MODULAR ranges, all were designed to solve multiple issues in the bathroom arena. Three recent projects by Bathroom & Kitchen Eleven, demonstrate this beautifully with each showing what can be achieved when the cabinet is treated as a design centrepiece.
Storage – built to last
All KEUCO cabinet ranges are built around a body and frame in silver anodised aluminium, the anodising provides the structure with a hard, stable surface that will not swell, warp or corrode. This is essential in a room defined by temperature changes and humidity, a key requirement for a product that needs to last for the ten to fifteen-year bathroom lifecycle.
SOMARIS extends that durability into a configurable format: with one, two or three doors, symmetrical or asymmetrical layouts, and a choice of mirrored, white, black or light oak-decor side panels. The cabinet can then be specified to match a scheme rather than dictate it. Exposed depth for Somaris of 127mm and the concealed option depth of 115mm makes it viable in shallow stud walls and smaller or guest bathrooms where a recessed cabinet previously wasn’t an option.
ROYAL MODULAR also offers concealed and exposed options, both built in silver anodised aluminium. Both exposed and concealed cabinets have two depth options – 120 / 160 mm deep. Both versions are available with one, two, three or four doors. In addition, widths range from 500mm to 2100mm and two heights 700mm and 900mm, offering versatile options for any bathroom design.
Light as a design tool, not an afterthought
Lighting is incredibly important and KEUCO uses LED lighting chosen for their longevity, but they are straightforward to access and replace when one does eventually reach the end of its life, rather than requiring the whole cabinet to be removed. The ROYAL MODULAR, top and bottom LED framing turns the cabinet into an effectively lit object in its own right, with main and indirect light sources controlled independently and adjustable colour temperature taking it from a warm 2700 Kelvin through to a crisp 6500 Kelvin daylight white — the difference between a relaxed evening routine and the true colour rendering needed for grooming or make-up application. SOMARIS offers a similar solution with 3000 Kelvin (warm white) dimmable lighting at the sides, with an intuitive touch-sensor control built into the underside of the cabinet, operable whether the doors are open or closed. The SOMARIS cabinet offers mirror heating which clears the fogging after a shower and switches off automatically, a small detail that makes a huge difference in windowless ensuites and cloakrooms.
Glass quality you can see
Glass quality is often overlooked but can be one of the clearest tells of a cabinet’s overall specification. KEUCO uses a 6mm thick higher-grade glass than is typical in the category, avoiding the faint greenish cast that mirrors with low-grade glass develops — a detail that matters to designers as much as end users.

Bathroom & Kitchen Eleven – Projects that shine
Bathroom & Kitchen Eleven has specified KEUCO mirror cabinets for several recent projects including Kingston Upon Thames, Surbiton and Weybridge. In Kingston, where storage and lighting needed to do more than work hard, they had to elevate the look and feel of the room as much as the tiling and sanitaryware around them. For this they chose the Royal Modular, specifically because they could upgrade the height to 900mm, perfect for this client’s taller members of the family.
In the Surbiton and Weybridge projects the brief in each case called for a cabinet that would enhance the scheme without taking centre stage when closed and provide the correct lighting when in use — from a family bathroom built around a bold geometric tile to an elegant tonal ensuite.
“As designers, selecting the right mirror cabinet for a client has become as important as any design feature as most clients recognise that bathrooms can’t only look beautiful, but must function perfectly, too. A mirror cabinet offers lighting, storage, charging, and is an item intrinsically linked to your morning routine to prepare for a busy day, or to settle your body ready for a calm nights sleep.” Adam Wollerton, Design Manager – Bathroom & Kitchen Eleven
Specifier’s Note
For designers and specifiers, the cabinet has stopped being a fixture chosen last. It is where storage, lighting and material longevity all meet in one object — and where a client notices the difference every single day. All KEUCO cabinets are made in Germany and backed by a 5-year warranty with a 10-year spare parts supply, giving specifiers the confidence to treat them as a long-term fixture rather than a replaceable extra.
