Moduleo donation set to ‘Transform’ pioneering veterans scheme in Wiltshire

Luxury vinyl flooring manufacturer, Moduleo, has donated 50sqm of material towards the UK’s first development exclusively for British war veterans.

The multi-million-pound project is transforming the former Erskine Barracks in Wiltshire into a 44-property scheme which aims to help veterans adjust back into civilian life.

‘Wilton Hill Veterans’ Village’ is the result of a partnership between Alabaré and Our Wilton Trust and aims to support more than 300 veterans in 10 years.

The project broke ground in early 2017 and will utilise Country Oak 24432 from Moduleo’s Transform collection, a classic design which combines rich, inviting tones with a darker grain.

The selected design has all the aesthetic benefits of natural oak, such as unique grains and knots, thanks to Moduleo’s unique manufacturing method, but doesn’t require the upkeep associated with its natural counterpart.

The flooring will be used throughout the scheme’s open plan dining and recreational area, as well as the 1-2-1 room and office and is the perfect choice due to ease of installation, low maintenance requirements and ability to withstand heavy footfall.

As the building is multiple occupancy and will experience large visitor numbers, the durability and maintenance of the flooring, as well as its acoustic properties, were significant factors when deciding on material.

Transform offers the most robust coating of Moduleo’s three collections, meaning it’s fairly heavy duty, as well as being moisture, scratch and scuff resistant.

Anne Williams, Alabaré care and support manager for veterans England and Wales, comments: “We are so grateful for this incredibly generous donation from Moduleo.

“It will make a wonderful addition to the Wilton Hill Veterans’ Village and we cannot wait to see it in place.”

Scheduled to launch in Q4 2018, the centre will provide a wealth of support for people recovering from challenges such as mental ill-health, debt issues, substance addiction and relationship breakdowns, as well as providing access to employment opportunities via an adjoining enterprise unit and Apprenticeship scheme.

David Bigland, managing director of Moduleo UK and Eire, added: “This is a landmark project that will provide invaluable support to veterans who need and deserve help to readjust to life outside of the forces. We’re always happy to support charitable causes and this is a very worthy one.

“The environment that you live in can make a huge difference to your mental health and wellbeing and we hope that this donation will have a positive impact on the lives of the veterans and help them on their journey back to independent living.”
