As we look towards 2027, bathroom design continues to move beyond purely aesthetic trends, with homeowners placing greater emphasis on richer finishes, coordinated schemes and products that combine good design with long-term functionality.
According to Jeevan Seth, CEO at JTP, next year will see individuality come to the forefront, alongside a growing expectation that every element of the bathroom works together.
BRONZE GETS DEEPER AND RICHER
“Warm metallics aren’t going anywhere. Brushed Bronze has grown significantly in popularity, and in 2027 we expect to see the palette move towards deeper, richer tones and more characterful interpretations of the finish. Bathrooms are becoming warmer in their overall palette and metallic finishes are following that direction.”
THE FULLY COORDINATED BATHROOM
“Matching a tap to a shower is no longer enough. One of the clearest shifts is demand for coordination across the entire bathroom, from brassware and showers to accessories, shower profiles and even door hardware. A few years ago, people were much more comfortable mixing different products and finishes. Today, if someone is investing in a new bathroom, they want everything to work together. The finish needs to carry through the whole room.”
FUNCTIONALITY BECOMES MORE FLEXIBLE
“Behind the finishes, functionality will continue to influence specification. We expect greater emphasis on products that make bathrooms easier to install, maintain and adapt over time, such as our recently launched Universal Box. At the same time, functionality is increasingly about how the bathroom makes us feel. Homeowners are investing more in creating spa-like spaces where they can switch off and relax, with generous showers, different spray functions and well-designed fittings helping to turn everyday routines into a more enjoyable experience.
Bathrooms also need to work for different ages and stages of life, putting greater emphasis on durability, accessibility and ease of use without sacrificing design. In 2027, the best bathrooms will balance all of these requirements, creating spaces that are practical for everyday life but also somewhere people genuinely enjoy spending time.”
MOVING AWAY FROM MATT
“After several years of dominance, there is a greater interest in PVD and more durable metallic finishes. Consumers aren’t only looking at how a finish looks on installation; they’re thinking about how it will perform and how easy it will be to maintain. That becomes particularly important in hard-water areas, where the practicality and longevity of the finish can influence the final choice. This is particularly evident in the continued move towards modern heritage interiors, where classic forms are being updated through more contemporary finishes.”
JTP’s Grosvenor collection reflects this direction, pairing period-inspired silhouettes and traditional detailing with Brushed Brass to give classic bathroom design a fresher feel. The finish also works particularly well with materials such as marble, timber and stone, as well as the richer colour palettes now appearing in bathrooms.
