InSinkErator Managing Director for EMEA, Ashley Munden, is celebrating an impressive 40 years with the business, marking a career defined by innovation, leadership, and mentorship.

Ashley began his journey in 1986 at Emerson, the former owner of InSinkErator prior to its acquisition by Whirlpool Corporation in 2022. His early foundation, a Marketing & Business studies course at Cambridge Marketing College followed by an MBA from Sheffield University, set the stage for a distinguished career in marketing, international growth, and business development.

Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Ashley undertook executive leadership courses in the USA and played a pivotal role in the company’s global marketing activities, managing creative assets, films, literature, and establishing 13 international websites. During this period, he successfully built the UK, European, and Russian distribution networks, shaping InSinkErator’s strong international presence.

Ashley served on both the Emerson European Executive Leadership team and the US leadership team, where he developed strong relationships across the EMEA region and became a recognised figure within the industry.

Reflecting on his journey, he said: “I look back fondly on those early days and feel proud of how far InSinkErator has come. Witnessing the company’s growth and the evolution of our product range has been incredible.”

In 2012, Ashley was appointed Managing Director for EMEA, a position he proudly remains in today. Under his leadership, InSinkErator reinforced its position as a market leader in food waste management, and in 2016, he spearheaded the establishment of European 3N1 and 4N1 instant hot water tap manufacturing in Italy, in partnership with Guglielmi.

Over four decades, his influence has been widely recognised, and he has overseen the sale of over one million food waste disposers, contributing to hundreds of millions in revenue. His achievements have earned him the Emerson Europe Business Leader Award in both 2012 and 2018.

During his tenure, he has worked under five presidents and four vice presidents, all while championing mentorship and leadership development of future business leaders.

“It’s been fantastic to watch colleagues around me flourish and I’ve been fortunate to work with incredible people, both past and present. Some of the most rewarding moments have been spent mentoring and seeing individuals develop in their role, making a real impact on the business. It’s important to me to express my gratitude to an incredibly talented EMEA team who have driven InSinkErator’s growth.”

Looking ahead, Ashley remains enthusiastic about the potential of the food waste disposal category: “Public awareness around food waste has grown dramatically, and thanks to years of effort, InSinkErator now stands as the trusted authority in this space. It’s a testament to the dedication of everyone who’s been part of our journey and I’m proud to say I’m still enjoying it 40 years into my tenure.”

“I’m excited about the future and to lead the EMEA team to achieve further success over the coming years. I feel fortunate to have been able to build strong relationships with our customers, without whom we simply would not have been able to establish the business and achieve this success.”
