Honouring a worthy cause at the BKU Awards 2017

This year the BKU Awards hosted a charity raffle, sponsored by Blanco. The benefiting charity was Rennie Grove Hospice Care, a charity that provides care and support for adults and children diagnosed with cancer and other life-limiting illness and their families. Attendees of the Awards generously dipped into their wallets and raised £1,170 for this worthwhile cause.

Every year through its 24/7 Hospice at Home service, Family Support services and the range of Day Services at Grove House, Rennie Grove Hospice Care gives thousands of patients the choice to stay at home, surrounded by their families and friends.

The BKU Awards fundraiser took place in the form of the ever-popular heads and tails game, offering the lucky winner two Club Wembley gold tickets. Jimmy Carr, the fantastically funny compère for the evening, welcomed Katie Eyton, presenter of Rennie Grove Hospice Care, to the stage and asked guests to take to their feet to play the game.

The rules were straightforward; place your hands on your heads if you choose heads, and place your hands behind your back if you choose tails. Jimmy asked the final six people standing to join him on the stage to determine the winner.

Rennie Grove Hospice Care was delighted with the amount raised at the event. Rosalind Lee, senior corporate fundraiser, said: “We are thrilled with the amount of money the BKU Awards has raised for our charity; the money will go to our nursing costs caring for patients with life-limiting illness.”
