On September 15, The Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol – an international agreement to gradually reduce the consumption and production of substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer – entered into force for China, to regulate emissions of potent non-carbon dioxide greenhouse gases.

On the same day, The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) praised Hisense for its foaming technology in refrigerator production, which has significantly reduced carbon emissions and driven refrigerator and freezer industry in the direction of low-carbon and environmental protection.

Hisense has long been committed to energy saving, emission reduction and low-carbon environmental protection, and advanced technology has played an essential role in promoting the process. Most recently, Hisense has succeeded in significantly reducing HFC emissions through technological upgrades, leading the industry’s green transformation.

The project meant that Hisense reduced the consumption of HFC-245fa by a total of 251.85 tons, which is equivalent to a reduction of 256,570 tons of carbon dioxide emissions from the production line each year – the equivalent of planting 14 million trees*. Reducing HFCs also helps to improve cold chain efficiency, reduce food loss, and ensure vaccine safety, and it has also brought significant environmental benefits to the world.
