HIMACS: ideal for all kitchens Dare to choose colour for an energised look.

Nicolas Yazigi continues to push the boundaries in terms of kitchen design, which is one of the reasons he chooses HIMACS – a product that enables him to give free reign to his imagination. In renovating this former factory, he has introduced a few surprises while working around the restriction of a busy floor.

At the start of this project, the client had no real specifications. The only requirement was to keep the flooring with its little multicolour tiles and that influenced the design, material and colour choices.

An XXL central island with dining end

Step inside this room and you will immediately see the centrepiece: a masterful kitchen island with its central unit made of HIMACS in spotless white holding the impressive oak table. The Solid Surface countertop features hidden power sockets, and the unit’s side has a set of oak drawers along with a wine cellar. The perfectly smooth, non-porous, seamless surface makes this worktop impeccably hygienic and resistant to wear and tear, scratches and stains, meaning it is particularly well suited to kitchen uses.

The oak table is not only super-sized (370 x 130 cm) but, embedded in the HIMACS unit, 80% of the table floats above the floor. In order to find the ideal balance of stability and lightness, Nicolas Yazigi manufactured a mixed wood and metal structure clad in plywood and covered in solid oak veneer.

Practicality and style make this an easy, enjoyable kitchen

At the back of the room is a set of ochre yellow laminated panel storage units adding a splash of colour to the room while also incorporating an oven and refrigerator. In the centre is a large, bespoke niche, made with HIMACS Alpine White, which houses the stove top, sink and extractor fan and features LED lighting. Manufacturing and installing this component posed a real challenge but the results speak for themselves: clean corners and a perfect, seamless finish.

Another difficulty for which Nicolas had to find a solution were the storage units above the alcove, which needed to support the entire unit and not sag over time.

Each end of the back wall features a set of shelves, also made of HIMACS.

To complete the look, the skirting boards and scribe mouldings are also made of HIMACS.

“My client had given me carte blanche in creating this kitchen and was surprised and awestruck by the finished project. HIMACS is durable, robust and versatile. This innovative material offers infinite creative possibilities that inspire me every day.” – Nicolas Yazigi
