HiB Sets Off On Around The World Challenge For Charity

Employees at leading bathroom manufacturer HiB have embarked upon a gruelling challenge to travel a virtual route around the world to raise vital funds for charity.

The initiative, which kicked off in January to mark the beginning of HiB’s 30th anniversary celebrations, will see employees walk, run, cycle or swim collective 30,000 miles this year – 1,000 miles for every year the business has been trading.

The objective is to raise at least £15,000 for two charities: Alzheimer’s Research UK and The National Autistic Society.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity, with a vision of a world where people are free from the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia. Dedicated to cause, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure, HiB has chosen to fundraise for this charity to support its mission “to bring about the first life-changing dementia treatment by 2025”.

The National Autistic Society is now the UK’s leading charity for autistic people and their families. This fantastic charity helps transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people. HiB has chosen to fundraise for them in 2020 and support them to continue their work to inform, inspire and motivate.

Each employee has pledged a distance that they hope to achieve throughout the year. Miles can be gained via any physical activity, so creativity is encouraged: from road running and cycling to rowing and swimming; it all counts towards the end goal. The business has also invested in gym equipment for its offices in Tamworth and London to help workers achieve their targets.

As reward for reaching each new location, staff will be treated to cultural delights like food, drink and music to keep them motivated along their journey.

Robert Ginsberg, HiB’s managing director, comments:

“As a business, taking risks and challenging ourselves has always been part a core part of our ethos, so it’s only fitting that we celebrate our 30th year of trading by taking on this epic feat together.

“Whether they have pledged two miles or two thousand, I’m grateful to everyone who is helping to raise vital funds for two very worthy charities, whilst also benefitting the health and wellbeing of the entire team.”
