When bold vision meets expert craft, something extraordinary happens — as Callerton Kitchens & Interiors, Victoria Ramez Architects, and Rehome proved with this unique and inspiring project.
Becca Bird, Interior Design Director at a leading London practice, and her partner Luke approached their own kitchen renovation like true creatives — with passion, purpose, and a willingness to do things differently. Even before planning permission for their home had been granted, they had already secured the centrepiece: a dramatic ex-display island from Rehome that set the tone for the entire space.
“That island had so much character, I knew I wanted it to be the focal point of our home. But that also meant everything else needed to be designed around it — it was a fun challenge,” explains Becca.
With the island as inspiration, Becca and Luke enlisted Callerton Kitchens & Interiors, Victoria Ramez Architects, and trusted builder Johnny at Greens Building Solutions to bring their vision to life.
Seamless Collaboration
For the team at Callerton, the project was an opportunity to showcase what they do best: listening closely, collaborating fully, and delivering premium bespoke solutions that work with — not against — an ambitious design concept.
“It’s always exciting to work with clients who have such a strong sense of style,” says Lucy Gregson, director at Callerton Kitchens & Interiors.
“Our job was to make sure the kitchen flowed beautifully, while allowing that incredible island to shine. We colour-matched cabinetry, refined the layout, and made sure the whole space felt coherent and considered.”
Architect Victoria Ramez agrees:
“The key for this project was to introduce light, and create a space that allows the statement kitchen to take centre stage. The kitchen is north facing, and so we were able to frame the soft light to provide an almost gallery-style back drop for the beautiful cabinetry which is brought to life in vivid colour. This was a fantastic project to work on, made seamless by the collaborative approach from all parties.”
Building Something Special
From their manufacturing base in the North East of England, Callerton have been producing high-quality, design-led kitchens for over forty years. Dawn Short, CEO of Callerton, reflects:
“This project is a great example of what we stand for — collaboration, creativity, and kitchens that feel personal to the people who use them. We’re proud to have been part of Becca and Luke’s journey and to see our furniture come to life in such a stunning space.”
Capturing the final result was Kate Buckingham, the photographer behind the striking imagery of the finished kitchen:
“This kitchen was a dream to photograph. The textures, the light, and the way it all worked together — it felt like a space you’d never want to leave.”
A Kitchen That Tells a Story
The completed kitchen is warm yet modern, with rich textures and elegant finishes complementing the bold statement island. Every element was chosen with care, resulting in a space that reflects Becca and Luke’s personality while offering smart functionality for everyday living.
“It’s kitchens like these that remind us why we love what we do,” adds Lucy. “It’s never just about cabinets and worktops — it’s about helping people create homes that reflect who they are.”
