Bell of Northampton unveils new £250,000 extension

Luxury lifestyle store Bell of Northampton officially opened its long awaited £250,000 7,000 sq ft store extension yesterday with a ribbon cutting ceremony and launch party.
The new, larger store houses four concessions: MOOCH, an independent gifting and accessories retailer which already has a store on St Giles Street in Northampton; intelligent homes specialist IndigoZest; a deli of locally sourced produce called The Cheese Kitchen @Bell; and The Rose Gallery.

The building of the extension has also seen changes take place inside the older part of the Bell of Northampton store, with the creation of a 110-seat day restaurant, introduction of a large Christmas shop and 90 additional car park spaces. A major outdoor and barbeque space, three times the size of the current outdoor department, is also being created. This is in addition to the vast range of kitchens, bathrooms, stoves and outdoor items already available in the store.
Bell of Northampton now measures 20,000 sq feet and has started trading on Sundays for the first time in its 120 year history. All together these changes have created 11 jobs.
Graham Jackson, Managing Director of Bell, said: “I am extremely proud to bring MOOCH, The Cheese Kitchen @Bell and IndigoZest to Bell of Northampton. It has taken a lot of time and effort, along with many months of meetings and research to get the right companies involved and bring my vision of the extended store to life.
“We are now at a point where we can confidently say that we are the ‘go to’ home and lifestyle store in Northamptonshire and we look forward to welcoming customers old and new to see what we have to offer.”
Cllr Tony Ansell, the Mayor of Northampton, officially opened the new extension by cutting a ribbon. He said: “Bell of Northampton has been serving the people of Northampton for 120 years and for over a third of this time I have been a customer of theirs myself! I thoroughly enjoyed touring their store today and opening the new extension. I can only describe the place as a mini Harrods! Something for everyone and at affordable prices.”
Bell of Northampton is located on Kingsthorpe Road, Northampton. To find out more, go to www.abell.co.uk.
